These conditions may include:
- Pain that emanates from "tender points" on the back of your neck, shoulders, chest, lower back, hips, shins, elbows and knees. The pain is particularly pronounced when you first wake up, but it may get better as the day goes on then get worse again at night.
- A deep ache or a shooting, burning pain that may get worse with activity, cold or damp weather or during times of anxiety or stress.
- Trouble sleeping or ongoing fatigue, even if you've just woken up.
If you've experienced these symptoms for three months or more, you should consult with a doctor. At Spine & Sports Health, one of our board-certified medical doctors will conduct a very thorough examination and may prescribe diagnostic testing. While there is no definitive test for fibromyalgia, such testing can rule out other causes.
If this evaluation and testing leads to a diagnosis of fibromyalgia, your doctor will create a customized treatment plan for you that may include:
- Pain Management therapies, including medications and trigger point injections, to reduce your pain.
- Proactive Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation to restore flexibility, strength and function and help manage your symptoms.
Our pain management physicians and team of physical therapists work together to deliver the effective treatment you need and critical understanding and support you deserve.
