We offer the latest in pain management treatment and injections on an outpatient basis, delivered with extreme precision and care for highly effective, lasting results. They include:

  • Platelet-rich plasma injections
  • Epidural steroid injections. Our board-certified physicians perform this simple procedure using local anesthesia or gentle sedation and high-tech fluoroscopic guidance at the Liberty Ambulatory Surgery Center in Jersey City. This procedure can offer you relief from a pinched nerve or nerves in the neck or back or an irritated cervical or lumbar disc that has not responded to more conservative methods. The injection reduces swelling, so patients can experience a dramatic reduction in pain, tingling, numbness and other symptoms.
  • Facet joint injections. Facet joints are small joints in the back of your spine and one of the most common causes of chronic neck and back pain. Injecting an anesthetic and steroid in and around these joints can provide relief, significantly reducing neck and back pain caused by inflammation. Our pain management doctors perform these injections at the Liberty Ambulatory Surgery Center in Jersey City using fluoroscopy to help ensure accurate needle placement.
  • Radiofrequency ablation, which also can reduce or eliminate the pain of damaged facet joints by disrupting the nerves that carry the pain signals.
  • Nerve blocks. When pain in an organ or body part is caused by a group of nerves, this simple, minimally invasive procedure can block those pain signals and provide essential relief so that healing of the area can begin. Performed by our experienced pain management doctors in our facilities, nerve blocks are used to treat chronic pain in the back, neck and spine, headaches, rib pain as well as hip pain from arthritis when drugs or other treatments are ineffective. They also can help diagnose the causes of pain.
  • Discography. If you have severe back pain that has not responded to treatment, your Spine & Sports Medicine specialist may recommend this minimally invasive technique. Also known as a discogram, this diagnostic procedure helps to determine if your pain is caused by one or more discs and enables your pain management doctor to identify other potentially effective therapies.
  • Endoscopic disc decompression. This minimally invasive percutaneous procedure can be an effective treatment for a herniated or bulging disc, sciatica or a pinched nerve and is an innovative alternative to spine surgery. Performed using anesthesia and high-tech fluoroscopic guidance at the Liberty Ambulatory Surgery Center in Jersey City, your board-certified doctor removes a small amount of material from the painful disk through a small tube, diminishing the pressure from the disc and relieving your pain.
  • Spinal cord stimulation. People who have neuropathic pain that has not responded to more conservative treatments may find relief in this minimally invasive procedure that uses electrical impulses to relieve chronic pain.
  • Steroid injections that can relieve the pain and swelling associated with arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome as well as other joint conditions including those of the knee, sacroiliac joint, shoulder and hip.
  • Orthovisc® injections to lubricate and ease knee pain caused by arthritis that hasn't responded to more conservative approaches.

Pain management treatments are an integral part of the unique "whole-patient" approach to non-surgical orthopedic care at The Spine & Sports Health Center, where we focus not only on relieving your pain… but on you as a person.

WHAT OUR PATIENTS ARE SAYING

More Testimonials

I am so grateful that a pain management/chiropractic/physical therapy practice exists in my neighborhood. I received amazing care from Dr. Visco, who helped make my life more comfortable with an epidural for a herniated disc in my neck. He is the most accessible doctor I''ve ever had. Dr. Kelly, the chiropractor, is also very attentive and gives great adjustments. Needless to say, I strongly recommend The Spine & Sports Health Center.
