Find Relief from Chronic Low Back and Leg Pain with Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS)

How This Treatment Works
Just like every other pain treatment option, you will be required to schedule an evaluation with a pain management physician at one of our offices to determine if you’re a good candidate. Good candidates often include individuals who previously had lumbar (low back) spinal surgery, but still experience pain in their low back and/or legs due to pinched nerves.
Unlike other pain treatment options and procedures, SCS requires a short trial with a temporary wire and stimulator (battery) that will help both you and the physician determine whether or not long term SCS will offer you sufficient pain relief.
What to Expect During Your Trial Stimulation at The Spine & Sports Health Center
All SCS trials are performed in a surgical center setting and are same-day procedures. The procedure itself lasts up to 30 minutes, is non-surgical, and requires only a local anesthetic and mild sedation. Once you are numbed, a thin wire will be placed adjacent to nerves in your spine, and a small stimulator will be taped to your back. Before you leave our office, you will receive a remote control medical device that will allow you to adjust the electrical signals generated to target your painful areas.
After three days, you will return to our office and have the temporary wire and stimulator removed. If the trial was successful, and adequate pain relief was achieved, you will be scheduled to receive a permanent wire implant at a later date. SCS has been shown to provide significant reduction in pain for qualifying patients.
