Overcome a Serious Sports Injury or Pain at Our New Sports Therapy and Rehab Center

in Sports Medicine / October 13th, 2016

Are you an athlete experiencing chronic pain on and off the field? Are you suffering from a major knee or calf injury much like the New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz suffered from in 2014 and 2015? If you aren't familiar with Cruz, who was an undrafted rookie and once one of the National Football League’s (NFL) best receivers, he first suffered a terrible right knee injury (torn patellar tendon) on October 12, 2014, during a game against the Philadelphia Eagles. The injury he suffered was so painful that he had to be escorted off of Lincoln Financial Field in a cart and sit out the rest of the 2014 season. As if this wasn't bad enough, when he finally recovered from his knee injury, he aggravated his left calf during training camp in 2015—which he later found out was a torn fascia, an injury that also caused him to sit out all of the 2015 season.

As a team of board-certified physicians, physical therapists, and chiropractors here at The Spine & Sports Health Center, we knew that Cruz’s injuries were horrible, but we knew (and hoped as Giants fans) that with surgery, the right physical therapy and rehabilitation, he would get back on the field.

And so he did. Over 680 days after he suffered his knee injury, Cruz caught his first pass from quarterback Eli Manning during a Giants preseason game on August 28, 2016. While the game was certainly unproductive for this once extremely vivacious receiver, he couldn’t help but just smile not only after they won, but throughout the entire game, because he was once again doing what he loves—playing football.

If you’re a competitive athlete or someone who enjoys working out, etc., and are sidelined due to an injury or pain, you can get back in the game like Cruz with the help of the pain management doctors and physical therapists at our new office in Hoboken, NJ. After all, just because you might not be a professional football player like Cruz, that doesn’t mean that the quality physical therapy and rehabilitation he received is unavailable to you at The Spine & Sports Health Center.
