Offering the most advanced physical therapies and techniques available, our experienced physical therapists work closely with every patient to create effective programs designed to accelerate recovery. We know how hard it is to be held back from your usual activities, and we’re committed to getting you the lasting relief you deserve, as quickly and efficiently as possible.
When should I see a physical therapist?
If you’ve recently experienced an injury that is causing you pain or discomfort, preventing you from resuming your usual activities or athletics, or resulting in decreased range of motion, it is recommended that you schedule a consultation with a trusted physical therapist or medical doctor. Aside from injuries, however, physical therapy can be highly effective for any kind of back, neck, or joint pain interfering with your daily life and well-being. Normal effects of aging, such as rotator cuff tears; spinal conditions such as scoliosis; and cartilage damage can all benefit from physical therapy, as well.
Physical therapists also treat patients who are working to strengthen their bodies before surgery, looking for help with recovery after a surgery, or simply seeking to prevent injuries, enhance performance, or become more mindful of their bodies. Finally, physical therapy can help patients recovering and healing from overuse injuries, as well as patients dealing with reduced range of motion or decreased strength as a result of an illness or disability.
Active & Passive Physical Therapy
The Spine & Sports Health Center is proud to offer both active physical therapy and passive physical therapy to our patients! We believe that both types of physical therapy, especially when used together, are essential to a healthy recovery and rehabilitation.
Active therapy is essentially what it sounds like: under the guidance of one of our experienced therapists, you’ll complete exercises and therapeutic movements and exercises, to help you regain strength, flexibility, and mobility while providing relief from any pain or discomfort you’re experiencing. You may utilize exercise equipment that we have on-site (exercise bike, treadmill, weights, bands, etc.), as well as using your own body to build strength.
With passive therapy, on the other hand, one of our physical therapists will move your muscles and joints for you, helping you to regain your strength and range of motion. In some cases, passive therapy is done prior to active therapy. We utilize a myriad of instruments to assist with this, as well. We are proud to support the most modern and advanced devices, techniques, and equipment to help our patients get better!
